Roberto Opazo

Executive Director

“What fascinates me the most about Khipu is that it solves many payment and collection problems that I have experienced as a person and as a small businessman for years. I think that working in a service that solves a problem that each of us experiences does that everything makes more sense”.

Roberto is a Civil Engineer in Computing with a Master in Industrial Engineering and a major in Management from the University of Chile.

He is specialized in data security, digital signatures, and entrepreneurship. For six years he was in charge of the chair of Data Security and Digital Signatures at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Chile. In addition, he has worked for twenty-three years in the private industry: three as a consultant, two in the Forest Industry, three years in the Health sector, three in Banking, and twelve years in the electronic signature and data security industry.

Roberto is recognized in the market as the founder of Accepta.com, in 1999. This company was the first certification service provider (PSC) accredited by the Internal Revenue Service of Chile (SII). From Accepta.com he promoted the electronic invoice model that allowed Chile to be the first country in the world to use electronic signatures to ensure the veracity of tax documents. This model, safer than the one used in the United States and Europe, has been an example in almost all of Latin America, including Brazil. He also was the creator of the fingerprint electronic signature model, which combines cryptographic techniques with biometrics to allow the generation of electronic signatures of contracts, using the finger and a biometric reader.
