Terms and conditions of use

Here is a summary of the terms of service.

  1. Users: Khipu can be used by both individuals and legal entities.

    • In the case of legal entities, the user must be a natural person who accepts the terms as a duly authorized representative of the institution, organization, or company. This person must use a valid email address to receive payment receipts or other important messages sent by Khipu to ensure the success of transactions. Additionally, it is necessary to have a user registration to raise funds. This is not necessary for those who only make payments through Khipu.

    • In the case of individuals, there are no restrictions to using Khipu, other than the technical requirements.

  2. Technical requirements: to use Khipu, users need:

    • a personal computer with Windows, Mac OS, or Linux operating systems and an Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, or Safari browser, or a tablet or a smartphone with Android or iOS operating systems;

    • access to the internet

    • a personal email address, and

    • a bank account (checking or savings account) from a bank operating in Chile that is authorized to make electronic transfers,

  3. Commission: the price of the services provided by Khipu is defined in the annex of particular conditions of the Collection Mandate Contract and its modifications. Khipu can modify the value and conditions of the price according to its powers.

  4. User Registration: individuals wishing to use the collection services, customer support, and historical records of transactions in Khipu must be duly registered in Khipu.

  5. Support: any user can contact Khipu's support team using the Support and Suggestions section available at the bottom of all our web pages.

  6. Territory: Khipu is a platform that allows sending and receiving payments through simplified electronic bank transfers that operates within the national banking system.

  7. Exclusive Mandate: Khipu can only be mandated to collect and pay money for previously agreed collections between a collector and a payer. This has two important consequences: first, Khipu does not participate or intervene in the agreements of wills agreed upon by the paying parties, nor in their cause, object, or conditions; and second, Khipu cannot use the funds for any purpose other than that mandated. The service provided by Khipu is governed by the mandate contracts for payments and for receiving payments. The full texts of these can be downloaded from the following links:

  8. End of the collector's contract and deletion of collection operations: the user will have the right to delete the User Registration, collector registration, and/or collection operations. Any collection operation in effect at the moment of deletion of the User Registration, deletion of a collector's registration, or deletion of all bank accounts associated with a Collector will be immediately suspended. The deletion of the records will become effective the next day, once the funds associated with mandates to receive, dependent on valid payment mandates, have been accounted for.

  9. Lawful Transactions: by using Khipu, users acknowledge, accept, and agree that such use is solely and exclusively for carrying out transactions of lawful origin and purpose. Users acknowledge that collection operations may become public, depending on the platform in which they are published, as well as being subject to any request from public authorities, with each user being responsible for not exposing information that may violate national or international laws in effect.

  10. Disputes: any dispute arising from the agreement between a collector and a payer must be resolved solely and directly between the parties involved; Khipu will not participate in any conflict.

  11. Suspension of payment processes: users will have the option to suspend a payment process at any time before authorizing the electronic transfer; once payment is authorized, any refund must be requested directly and exclusively from the party receiving the payment: it is the collector's obligation to comply with the current consumer rights law. Notwithstanding the above, Khipu may suspend, for justified reasons, temporarily or permanently, a collection operation either on its own initiative or as a result of one or more complaints made by one or more Khipu users.

  12. Cookies: Khipu users and website visitors acknowledge and accept that it uses a tracking system through the use of cookies.

  13. Authorizations: users authorize Khipu to execute only the necessary functions to provide its services. This authorization extends to trusted third parties, such as the bank with which each user operates and their Internet service provider for data transmission. Khipu is not responsible for any illegal acts that those third parties may commit or that may be committed through them.
